It’s not just the UK newspapers who are leading with the birth of the new royal baby! Media institutions around the world are captivated by the new royal Princess and giving the item lengthy coverage. Below we take a look at the best newspaper front pages from around the world to see how they all compare.
New Zealand’s Herald on Sunday and Sunday Star Times
New Zealand’s national newspapers, the Herald on Sunday and Sunday Star Times both lead on the newest addition to the Royal Family. The Herald has a special souvenir edition for people to purchase in shops with the headline reading ‘It’s A Girl’. The Star Times leads with the same headline and even both highlight the word ‘Girl’ in pink.
As you may well have noticed, both of these newspapers use images taken before the Duchess had been admitted to hospital in labour. The reason being is the time differences in the Australasian countries who didn’t have time to wait until the three left the hospital.
Australia’s Herald Sun & Canada’s Toronto Star
Again, because of the time difference in Australia, the Herald Sun had to make the most of the information Kensington Palace tweeted early in the morning. However, despite no pictures of the Princess, the Herald Sun still dedicates the whole front page to the birth and makes a commemorative souvenir edition.Canada’s Toronto Star had no problems with the time differences though as they feature a picture of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge alongside the new Princess of Cambridge on the steps of the Lindo Wing. The newspaper also features the betting markets on it’s front page over what the new baby name will be.
China’s Shanghai Daily & France’s Le Parisien
The English speaking Chinese newspaper, the Shanghai Daily, is very different to the other front pages in this review. It dedicates its a whole front page to the arrival of the new Princess, but instead of featuring an image of a member of The Royal Family, it shows the Town Crier, Tony Appleton. The French newspaper, Le Parisien, also dedicates most of their front page to the new unnamed Princess. “It’s a girl” is what the headline translated states. Underneath the headline, it says that 70% of French people have a positive view of the British Royal Family.
