With Prince Louis ensconced at home away from the revelry, it fell to other members of the Royal Family to take the limelight. And when Katy Perry began performing, it was Princess Charlotte’s turn.
The eight-year-old royal could be seen singing along as Katy Perry performed some of her hits, including ‘Roar’ and ‘Firework.’
The American singer, who has supported King Charles with his British Asian Trust, appeared at the Windsor Castle concert in a custom-made gold ballgown designed by Vivienne Westwood.
“I am so happy to be here with you people. I love you so much. I’m so happy to celebrate this whole weekend,” Perry said.
The singer revealed that she brought her mother with her to the United Kingdom, and that “we got to stay in Windsor Castle, no big deal. Thank you for having me at this coronation celebration.”
She added: “I would like to dedicate this next song to the King and the work that we get to do together with the British Asian Trust and their Children’s Protection Fund. Thank you for bringing out the firework in so many young people.”
Perry went viral on social media ahead of Saturday’s coronation ceremony when it appeared she couldn’t find her seat. She later tweeted: “don’t worry guys i found my seat.”
She later posted a longer tribute on Instagram: “Was such an honor to be able to watch history being made today at the coronation of King Charles III! I am so grateful to have been invited by The King on behalf of the @thebritishasiantrust and their Children Protection Fund, an organization I’ve deeply believed in and have been fortunate to support for the last 3 years.”
At the time of her appointment as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust, she said that she wanted to “use my voice to shine a light on the work that the British Asian Trust will be doing in South Asia, and to be a part of finding solutions to protect children from exploitation and abuse.”
