Prince William’s employer, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, has placed a request on their Facebook page for donations to help furnish the new office building for The Duke of Cambridge and his colleagues.
The most luxurious item on the list would be a 55-inch television so the team can relax between their callouts. The East Anglian Air Ambulance also plans to use the televisions in the boardroom and training room in order for the crew to watch training videos.
The new office building, which is to be unveiled next month, is much larger than the current room the team uses at the back of the main airport building. Staff have previously described their present base as “cosy” and must be looking forward to the much bigger offices that will feature sleeping accommodations and a canteen.
Located just meters from the helicopter pad used by William and the team, the building will include LED lighting and soundproofing to help with the noise from the Cambridge International Airport.
The post on the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity’s Facebook page reads:
“EAAA needs your help!
“The crew and clinical team are moving to our new base at the Cambridge airport very soon.
“We are asking our lovely supporters and generous companies to help us furnish the new accommodation.
“We need a large larder fridge, an under counter fridge, an under counter freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave and 55’ TVs.
“If you can support us by donating any white goods, please get in touch! Email comms@eaaa.org.uk
“Do you know someone who might be able to help? Why not share this post with them?”
Prince William joined the EAAA back in July and is on a roster that includes day and night shifts that last nine-and-a-half hours.
The Duke flies an EC145 T2 aircraft which he had to undergo additional training in order for him to fly. William and the crew respond to emergencies in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire to assist in everything from heart attacks to road accidents.
As a pilot with the EAAA, he is employed by Bond Air Service and is paid a salary which he donates to charity.
A spokeswoman for the charity spoke of the Facebook appeal saying: “We are a charity and don’t like to waste money where we don’t have to. A lot of business like to help us by donating items in this way.”
