The Duke of Cambridge has paid tribute to the retiring chairman of the Royal Foundation, a platform founded by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. Lord Janvrin, who is retiring from the role after five years, was honoured for his dedication and passion to chairing the foundation.
Sir Keith Mills, the former deputy chairman of the London 2012 Games organising committee will now take on the role of chairman for the Royal Foundation, where he became a trustee last year. Sir Mills led the first successful Invictus Games in 2014. He also chairs the Invictus Foundation.
Prince William had nothing but praise for Sir Mills becoming chairman, saying: “We are delighted that Sir Keith will be taking on the chairmanship. His huge success in business has been followed by a tireless commitment to charitable and sporting causes, including the London Olympic Games. We look forward to working with him in his new role.”
Lord Janvrin served as a former private secretary to Her Majesty. He became a trustee for the Royal Foundation in 2010, and helped guide the foundation from its inception to become the main advocacy platform for the three young royals.
Prince William spoke on behalf of the three royals, saying: “Lord Janvrin has been a dedicated and passionate leader of our Foundation.”
He went on to say: “He has understood what Catherine, Harry and I want to achieve and has made sure our values have been reflected in the Foundation’s work.”
He continued by saying Lord Janvrin had been instrumental in growing the foundation’s diverse focus of causes creating greater public awareness.
He said: “Under his leadership the Foundation has made major gains in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade, has launched inspiring programmes to support young people, and has helped in the effort to realise the full potential of our veterans. We are grateful to him for his service and look forward to calling on his advice for years to come.”
