Prince Charles takes to the wheel of a car that only emits water

The Prince of Wales took to the wheel of a car that only emits water vapour on Tuesday afternoon.

The environmentally conscious Prince was introduced to the vehicle during a visit to Riversimple, a company that develops hydrogen powered cars.

On arrival at the company, Prince Charles visited the workshop where he saw a number of vehicles and learnt about the production process.

His Royal Highness spoke to engineers and technicians about the cars, before he took to the wheel of a Rasa car.

The Rasa is a lightweight, super-efficient, two-seat electric car powered by hydrogen. It’s the first of a range of vehicles that Riversimple plans to offer customers and will be followed by a light commercial van for last mile delivery and a family vehicle.

The Rasa emits nothing but pure water vapour and is designed to minimise the particulates from tyres and brakes with its low weight, skinny tyres and highly regenerative braking.

After returning from a test drive, Prince Charles was shown manufacturing plans and was introduced to stakeholders and catalysts for Riversimple and a group of custodians.

Riversimple’s purpose is “To pursue, systematically, the elimination of the environmental impact of personal transport”.

The company is designed from every angle to make sustainability profitable, in the design of the product, the business model and the governance.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are on a five day visit to Wales.

Their Royal Highnesses have a full programme of engagements over the week. However, to discourage crowds from gathering, details of events will not be publicised in advance.
