The UK to fall silent for Queen Elizabeth II on the eve of her funeral

A one minute silence will take place in the United Kingdom on the eve of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The tribute will take place at 8pm on the evening of September 18th 2022 as the country prepares for a final farewell to Her Late Majesty.

The State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II takes place at Westminster Abbey on September 19th 2022.

Her Late Majesty died at Balmoral Castle on September 8th 2022 and was taken from her beloved Scottish home to Edinburgh on September 11th where she rested in the Throne Room at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Her coffin will be taken in procession from Holyrood to St. Giles’ Cathedral for a Service of Thanksgiving for her life. She will lie in state at the Cathedral until September 13th with members of the Royal Family, including King Charles III, taking part in a vigil.

The coffin of the late Queen will be flown to RAF Northolt on September 13th 2022. Her daughter, the Princess Royal, will accompany her mother’s coffin. From Northolt it will be driven to Buckingham Palace where Her Late Majesty will rest in the ballroom for family to pay their own tributes.

On September 14th 2022, the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will be moved from Buckingham Palace, in procession, to Westminster Hall for the lying in state. It will be the last time that Her Late Majesty leaves the Palace. Her funeral procession will go from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey. A final procession in London will follow the funeral. It will end at Wellington Arch from where the coffin of the late Queen will be driven to Windsor.

Her Late Majesty’s funeral procession finishes on the Long Walk at Windsor Castle. A Service of Committal at St. George’s Chapel will be followed by a private burial in the King George VI Chapel within St. George’s.
