The official Jubilee cake has been delivered to Buckingham Palace.
The five tier delicacy, created by Patisserie Mark Bennett, was revealed just days before the Platinum celebrations get under way.
Mark Bennett took to Instagram to show the cake off to the world before delivering it to Buckingham Palace.
The cake is iced in white and topped with a crown and bears many symbolic decorations.
The bottom tier features the royal crest while the next tier has The Queen’s cypher in sugar on one side. Above that is the number 70 crafted in the shade of platinum. The top tier features the official Platinum Jubilee logo.
The tiers are also decorated with platinum coloured swirls to give a crown shape across the whole cake. Intricate sugar paste flowers, including white roses, are layered around the cake. The whole construction rests on a board trimmed with platinum ribbon on a purple velvet cushion.
Mark Bennett said that being chosen to make and bake the cake for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was both an honour, adding he was nervous as ”we now have to transport the cake safely to Buckingham Palace.”
The pastry chef and baker runs a series of shops in Dorset.
