The Queen to take on additional duties for The King over Easter

Queen Camilla will take on additional duties usually reserved for the sovereign over the Easter period.

Buckingham Palace has announced that Her Majesty will represent The King at the annual Royal Maundy Service, which is this year being held at Worcester Cathedral.

At the service, Queen Camilla will distribute specially-minted coins known as Maundy Money to 75 men and women – one for each year of The King’s life.

The aim is to recognise people over 70 years old who have served their communities.

This will be the third Royal Maundy service The Queen has attended.

In 2022, she and the then Prince of Wales covered for Queen Elizabeth II who was too unwell to attend.

Last year, she accompanied The King for the first Maundy Thursday service of his reign.

This is the first time she will carry out the duties solo.
