The Queen has shared a favourite picture of the Duke of Edinburgh as she prepares to say a final farewell to her husband of 73 years.
The image, from her private collection, shows her and Prince Philip on one of their regular stays at Balmoral.
Taken at the beauty spot, Coyles of Muick, the photo captures the two sharing a happy moment on a sunny afternoon in 2003. It was taken by the Countess of Wessex.
The photo shows the pair relaxed, smiling and clearly delighted in each other’s company.
It was shared as the Royal Family ended a week of tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh on its social media accounts with a series of photos marking his long marriage to The Queen. One message alongside the images said ”The Queen and The Duke’s enduring marriage has seen them support each other through many years of Royal duties and raising a family together.”
