The Prince of Wales shows thanks for birthday wishes with unseen photo

Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales

The Prince of Wales has taken to social media to show his gratitude for the good wishes being sent to him as he celebrates his 72nd birthday.

Clarence House has shared a new image of the Prince to mark his big day. The photo shows Charles against a backdrop of vibrant autumn trees with the message ”Thank you for all the well wishes on The Prince of Wales’s 72nd Birthday!”.

The heir to the throne, who has just given an interview to British Vogue about his sense of style and who announced his backing for a sustainable clothes projects just days ago, is pictured in a kilt.

The other official royal social media accounts paid tribute to Charles on his birthday. The Royal Family shared an image of the Queen with her son as a baby and another of the two in more recent times with the message ”Wishing The Prince of Wales a very happy birthday today! #HappyBirthdayHRH!”. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Twitter and Instagram featured a smiling photo of the Prince by himself and the words ”Wishing a very Happy Birthday to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales!” along with a cake emoji.

Charles Philip Arthur George was born on November 14th 1948 at Buckingham Palace. He became heir to the throne on his mother’s accession in 1952 and has now been first in line longer than any other person in British history. The Prince of Wales is spending his 72nd birthday privately.
