The music stars set to take the stage at the Platinum Party at the Palace

The Platinum Party at the Palace will feature some of the world’s biggest musicians performing outside Buckingham Palace, bookended by performances by two of music’s most iconic performing groups.

On June 4, the third day of the long celebratory weekend, Queen + Adam Lambert will open the concert, with the BBC describing their performance as one that will “summon memories of Brian May’s historic appearance on the Palace roof” at the Golden Jubilee Concert 20 years ago.

In a statement from the BBC, Brian May said: “Twenty years after playing The Queen’s glorious Golden Jubilee we’re very happy to be invited again. Then there was a moment when I wondered… after Buckingham Palace roof where can you go? Well…you will see!”

Singing legend Diana Ross will close the Platinum Party at the Palace, marking her first live UK performance in 15 years. “I have had the honour of meeting The Queen many times throughout my life, including when I was with my family,” said Ross. “Her Majesty has and continues to be such an incredible inspiration to so many across the world and I was absolutely delighted to receive an invitation to perform on such a momentous and historic occasion.

Other musicians who will perform on Saturday evening include legendary performers like Elton John, Sir Rod Stewart, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys, and Hans Zimmer, and more modern acts like Sigala, Diversity, and Ella Eyre.

The Platinum Party at the Palace will air live on the BBC and iPlayer, along with BBC Radio 2. Members of the Royal Family are expected to attend the Platinum Party at the Palace, though confirmation of attendance is expected closer to Saturday.

The BBC has teased that further performers may not be announced until they appear at the concert, to add a few surprises to the mix.

Royal Central will bring you full coverage of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee all weekend.
