The first garden parties of the reign of King Charles III are announced

The first garden parties of King Charles’s reign have been announced by Buckingham Palace.

Two garden parties will take place at Buckingham Palace on 3 May and 9 May in celebration of the coronation on 6 May. A third garden party will take place at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on 4 July.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to attend all three, and will be accompanied by other members of the Royal Family as well.

Guests will include members of the Royal Voluntary Service who were named Coronation Champions for their dedication to volunteering and service.

Queen Camilla helped launch the project back in the winter, and 500 volunteers were selected for their service. Their recognition will see them invited to coronation celebrations throughout the month of May, with many invited to one of the coronation garden parties.

The Duchess of Edinburgh has been granted permission from the King to host a garden party for the Not Forgotten Association on 16 May at Buckingham Palace.

The Not Forgotten Association provides support to ex-servicemembers who are living with disabilities and illnesses, and to serving personnel who have been wounded or are sick. According to the Palace, 2,000 people are expected to attend.

The Not Forgotten Association Garden Party is an annual event at Buckingham Palace, and the charity is also supported by the Princess Royal.

The King has also granted permission for the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester to host a garden party on 24 May to mark the 150th anniversary of the Royal Kennel Club. The late Queen Elizabeth II was patron of the organization for 70 years.

Garden parties are held annually to create access for members of the Royal Family to meet with regular people who have contributed significantly to their communities.
