Sussexes give a look into private Hubb Community Kitchen visit

Just this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would be stepping back from being ‘senior royals’ – a move announced on their Instagram, that gained worldwide attention.

Friday, the Duke and Duchess broke away from the headlines upon their announcement and shared an intimate look at their recent visit to the Hubb Community Kitchen.

In September of 2018, it was revealed Meghan had been making secret visits to the kitchen to meet with the women and to learn about their recipes. The Duchess wrote a forward to the cookbook, Together, Our Community Cookbook, a collaboration of recipes by the women Meghan has grown so close with.

In the forward of the book, the Duchess said:

Together is more than a cookbook. This is a tale of friendship, and a story of togetherness. It is a homage to the power of cooking as a community, and the recipes that allow us to connect, share, and look forward.

In January 2018, as I was settling into my new home of London, it was important to me to get to know organizations working in the local community. I made a quiet trip to Al-Manaar, a mosque close to the Grenfell community.”

In the wake of the Grenfell tragedy, these women came together to cook meals for their families and neighbours.

With funds from the sales of the cookbook, the women have now been able to continue working with local organisations with the goal of building hope, bringing comfort and providing warm meals and a sense of togetherness.

As for what is next for the Sussexes, Meghan has returned to Canada to be with Archie. While Prince Harry is currently in London, working through the couple’s announcement with other members of the Royal Family.

The family have spent the past several weeks at a private home in British Columbia, Canada.
