The Duchess of Sussex likens herself to Ariel in The Little Mermaid

During the bombshell interview with Oprah on Sunday night, the Duchess of Sussex likened her time in the Royal Family to that of Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

The Duchess said: “I was sitting in Nottingham cottage and The Little Mermaid came on. And who as an adult really watches The Little Mermaid, but it came on, and I was like, ‘Well, I’m here all the time I might as well watch this.’ “

She then continued: “I went, ‘Oh my God she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice.’ “

Meghan smiled and added: “But in the end she gets her voice back.”

The Duchess of Sussex made the comment during the segment of the interview when Oprah asked her if she had been silenced by the Royal Family.

She also mentioned that she, her family and her friends were briefed to tell the press ‘no comment’ when they would be approached for stories, and she vowed that they always did.

It was hinted that Meghan, by giving a wide-ranging interview with bombshell revelations, was getting her voice back like the Disney princess she discussed.

The Duchess of Sussex does have a relationship with Disney as she recently narrated a nature documentary Elephant that is exclusively available on Disney+.

More of the Sussex interview will be shared on CBS: This Morning in the United States on Monday.
