Kensington Palace announced yesterday that American-born former actress Meghan Markle now has her own assistant private secretary.
Amy Pickerill has been tasked with working in Prince Harry’s office to organise Meghan’s diary and handle any correspondence she may receive. Pickerill had formally worked in the office of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as their senior communications officer. Before that, she worked at the HM Treasury in London and Royal Bank of Scotland.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “Amy Pickerill works as an Assistant Private Secretary in Prince Harry’s office.”
They added that Pickerill “will be working on Meghan Markle’s programme.”
Miss Pickerill has been spotted numerous times already assisting Meghan at official events following closely behind to help Meghan carry flowers and gifts from well-wishers during walkabouts. She was most recently seen alongside the 36-year-old former Suits star during events in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is believed the Nottingham University history graduate has also helped the future royal organise private trips to the charity sector in London – including a visit to the Grenfell Tower fire victims.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will wed at St George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle on 19 May at noon local time (7 am ET/4 am PT in the United States). The Palace also revealed who would conduct the ceremony earlier this month, “The Dean of Windsor will conduct the service, and The Archbishop of Canterbury will officiate as the couple make their vows.”
It will be followed by a carriage procession through the down before a reception for wedding guests at St George’s Hall. The Prince of Wales will host another private reception later that evening for close friends and family of the couple.
Harry and Meghan, via Kensington Palace, have said that they are “hugely grateful for the many good wishes they have received since announcing their engagement.”
