Buckingham Palace in “crisis talks” following Harry & Meghan’s Oprah interview

Buckingham Palace is engaged in crisis talks with senior royals and key aides following the broadcast of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s highly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Royal Household staff and Royal Communications are not taking calls from journalists.

Richard Palmer, Royal Correspondent at the Daily Express, tweeted: “Crisis meetings continue in the Royal Household.

“Every single person authorised to speak to the media has their phone switched off, as far as I can tell. And it’s not just me they aren’t taking calls from.”

The Royal Household faced a number of serious allegations by the couple in their 90-minute interview with Oprah.

Amongst the most damaging allegations are that proper support was not offered to Meghan when she was feeling suicidal, and that an unnamed member of The Royal Family made a racist comment about the colour of Archie’s skin.

Buckingham Palace has not commented on the interview.

When asked if the palace should investigate the allegations, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson avoided answering the question.

Mr Johnson simply said: “I’ve always had the highest admiration for The Queen and the role she plays in our country and the Commonwealth”

He added that his policy is not to comment on matters surrounding The Royal Family and that he would not be changing this stance.
