Archie carries out his first royal engagement: meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu

His parents called it ‘Arch meets Archie’. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took their five month old son along with them as they met Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his family on day three of their visit to South Africa.

The seventh in line to the throne looked rather pleased to be hitting the royal trail, smiling happily as he was carried into a lifetime of regal duties by his proud mum. Dad Harry was on hand to entertain and got an excited gurgle from his little boy as he chatted to his son on the family’s walk into the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation in Cape Town.

The first glimpses of Archie on official duty were shared in a video on Harry and Meghan’s official Instagram page, Sussex Royal.

The visit to the Tutu Centre was the first event of a busy day for the Sussexes. Later today, Prince Harry will fly to Botswana to begin his leg of the tour there. Meghan has an engagement at the Woodstock Exchange where she will meet female entrepreneurs.

The Sussex family arrived in South Africa on Monday and their full tour of four southern African countries will last ten days in total.
