World production of Irn Bru shut down for The Queen as it would be ‘too noisy’ for the 95-year-old monarch’s visit

The entire production line at the Irn Bru factory in Scotland was shut down for The Queen’s visit over noise fears.

The AG Barr factory in Cumbernauld exports soft drinks all over the world, however, for a very special VIP occasion on Monday, all work was stopped.

Sky News correspondent Gerard Tubb explained: “The Queen came here to officially open a new production facility.

“But apparently it is too noisy for a 95-year-old to put up with, so they shut the entire factory down.

“I’m not sure if that came from the factory or if it came from Buckingham Palace.

“But it was all shut down and it will be hours before they get it all back in to production again and sending drinks right around the world.”

The Queen’s visit to the AG Barr factory has been in the planning for months, with every detail prepared for.

Irn-Bru is a soft drink made to an original secret recipe, which contains 32 flavours, and is Scotland’s most popular drinks brand, beating even Coca Cola.

Other popular drinks manufactured by AG Barr include Rubicon fruit and juice drinks and Strathmore Still Spring Water.

AG Barr was established over 140 years ago in Scotland, with Irn-Bru first being created in 1901.

On their visit, The Queen and the Earl of Strathearn were offered a glass of Irn-Bru to sample.

Her Majesty, who very rarely eats or drinks in public, politely declined. However, Prince William was more than happy to taste a sample of the produce.
