Uncertainty surrounds whether The Queen will be well enough to make her first public appearance for two weeks tomorrow morning, as she is due to attend Divine Service at Sandringham.
The 90-year-old monarch traditionally attends the Sunday morning Church services at Sandringham. This year, a service will fall on New Years Day.
Although is is standard for Her Majesty to attend Church services every Sunday, the media will be paying particularly close attention to this visit to see how The Queen is, and indeed to see whether she turns up at all.
Buckingham Palace has refused to confirm or deny whether The Queen will be attending the service.
A royal aide has said: “We probably will not know what is happening until the morning.”
This follows the monarch having to miss the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham this year due to her recovering from a heavy cold.
Her Majesty has been known to have been suffering from a cold since at least a week before Christmas Day, when she cancelled her travel arrangments to Sandringham due to a “heavy cold”.
Prince Philip also fell ill to a heavy cold, and was initially worse off than The Queen.
However, as Christmas Day came nearer, The Duke got better but Her Majesty was still recovering from her sickness.
As a result, she wasn’t able to attend the Christmas morning Church service at St Mary Magdalene Church for the first time since 1988. Before 1988, Her Majesty attended a church service at Windsor meaning this was the first time The Queen was absent from communion in recent living memory.
Buckingham Palace last released a statement on Friday, saying: “The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh continue to recover from their heavy colds.”
While it seems strange that a cold is what the Queen and Prince Phillip suffered from, I simply pray that she will recuperate at her own speed. She has governed Britain and her Realms long and with her Coronation Oath to God, in mind as best able under the circumstances that Prime Ministers and many others would permit, growing in her “office” as a Monarch. I was personally aggrieved that Prince Charles and his mandarins at Buckingham Palace wanted to bill me for the return of my Christmas gift of Biblical citation and theology not giving it to her Private Secretary for consideration as to whether or not it had merit for her to read at Windsor Castle, if well enough. To be billed for sending a gift may indicate the quality of King, that Prince Charles would be. However, it would be High Treason to not give every bit of well wishes and aide for the Queen’s recovery. God bless and preserve her.
