The Queen prepares to meet the new Princess at Anmer Hall

She was born on Saturday morning to much excitement and fanfare and made her first public appearance just ten hours later. Now the new Princess is set to meet her great-grandmother The Queen for the very first time.

After leaving hospital the little Princess spent the first two nights of her life at Kensington Palace with her family but it is expected that she will be taken to Anmer Hall, her parents’ home in Norfolk, later today.

The Queen was at a military parade in North Yorkshire on the day of her youngest great-grandchild’s birth and wore pink to honour the Princess. She is currently staying at Sandringham with The Duke of Edinburgh and the couple are surely eager to meet the newest addition to their ever growing family. It is thought that The Queen and Prince Philip will drive down to Anmer Hall to see the baby rather than have their great-granddaughter make the journey.

Some reports suggest that William and Kate have already decided upon a name for their daughter but will only reveal it to the public after meeting The Queen and personally informing her of their choice meaning we could find out what they have called their little girl later on today.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will stay at Anmer Hall along with their young family for the rest of the month. The Duke has taken paternity leave from his job as a helicopter pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance until June 1 while the Duchess will not be carrying out engagements for the rest of the summer and will spend that time exclusively with her young ones.

The couple have chosen Anmer Hall as their residence for the first few weeks of their baby daughter’s life as it affords them the much privacy that they cherish so much. The country house has been surrounded by high fences and shrubs to keep out unwanted visitors and the large grounds will give Prince George plenty of space to play.

In addition to their regular nanny, Maria Teresa Borrallo, William and Kate have made plans to hire a maternity nurse to help them take care of their newborn baby girl. When Prince George was born in 2013 the royal couple, in a break from tradition, decided against hiring a nanny, instead choosing to raise George only with help from Kate’s parents. However this time, while the Middletons will no doubt be regular guests at Anmer Hall, they won’t be the only source of help for William and Kate.

The new fourth-in-line to the throne was yesterday visited by her grandparents The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and Carole and Michael Middleton as well as by her auntie, Pippa Middleton. Her royal uncle, Prince Harry, is currently completing a four week attachment with the military in Australia and is scheduled to carry out a week long tour of New Zealand immediately after that but he will be back in England in the middle of May to meet his new niece.

At Anmer Hall the couple will have many more visitors to coo over their precious new arrival. The Duke’s close friends, the van Cutsems, live in Hilborough, while other friends of the Cambridges, the Duckworth-Chads, live at Pynkney Hall near King’s Lynn. William’s cousin, Laura Fellowes, also lives nearby.
