The Queen and Prince Philip go to market, lunch and a garden party

<![CDATA[After Her Majesty and Prince Philip's visit to Titanic Quarter and their tour of the Game of Thrones set, they stopped to visit St George’s Market. Greeted by Dr Alasdair McDonnell MP, Councillor Nichola Mallon, Lord Mayor of Belfast, they were given an overview and tour of ‘The Best of Belfast’ specialty market, viewing many exhibits such as handmade Linen products and fruit and vegetables.

After the short tour, Her Majesty and Prince Philip went on a short walkabout to meet stallholders and the public.
Following the market tour, they attended a reception and lunch at Belfast City Hall hosted by the Lord Mayor. After the luncheon, the Lord Mayor escorted Her Majesty and Prince Philip to the Marble Hall where they signed the visitor’s book.

The Freedom of the City of Belfast was conferred on then Princess Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinburgh in May 1949. Her Majesty and The Duke visited the City Hall in July 1953 as part of Her Majesty’s Coronation visit, and again in July 1966. The last visit to Belfast City Hall was in 1966.
The last engagement on Tuesday had The Queen and Prince Philip attend a Garden Party at Hillsborough Castle.
As guests of honour of the Secretary of State, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh also met with a number of PSNI officers and military personnel.
The Queen was then invited by Patricia Corbett, Head of Hillsborough Castle, to plant a tree to commemorate her visit.
On Wednesday, The Royal couple will attend two engagements before leaving Northern Ireland.
Later this week, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will honour those who gave their lives in the Great War and attend a solemn drumhead service at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London.
