Queue to see The Queen Lying-in-State paused after it reaches capacity and wait time extends to 14 hours

Entry to the queue to see The Queen Lying-in-state was temporarily paused on Friday after it reached maximum capacity.

People were asked not to join the queue for at least six hours as organisers try and reduce the wait time which is was 14 hours.

According to the government’s live tracker, at the time of the queue’s closure, it stretched for 5 miles all the way from Westminster Hall to Southwark Park.

The queue currently has a wait time of 14 hours and is 4.9 miles long – stretching back to Southwark Park.

A spokesperson for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport said: “Southwark Park has reached capacity.

“Entry will be paused for at least 6 hours. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

“Please do not attempt to join the queue until it re-opens.”
