The Queen celebrates her 88th birthday tomorrow, on Easter Monday and will be marking the day privately as usual with family at Windsor Castle.
This latest image of Her Majesty will, according to the GREAT campaign, be used in activity to support the organisation, which aims to generate jobs and growth through highlighting internationally Britain as a world-class destination for trade, tourism, investment and education.
Distinguished photographer David Bailey has photographed members of the Royal Family before, taking Prince Harry’s photographs for the cover of GQ magazine as part of his North Pole challenge for Walking With the Wounded.
Her Majesty marked Easter Sunday today with the traditional church service at St George’s Chapel, joined by the Royal Family, with the notable absence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who are continuing their tour of Australia.
The Queen’s birthday tomorrow will be marked with the Union Flag flying above all public buildings and the national anthem playing on BBC Radio at 7 and 8am in the morning. Gun salutes will also take place in London tomorrow at the usual saluting bases: Green Park and the Tower of London and also other places across the UK.
As well as holding the record for being the longest-lived Monarch in British history, The Queen is set to overtake her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria in September of next year as the longest reigning British Monarch of all time. Queen Victoria reigned for over 63 years until her death in 1901.
No engagement are planned for The Queen for the next few days as she continues her Easter Court – the month long residence over the Easter period at Windsor Castle – and her next public engagement at the moment according to the royal diary is a visit to Essex with the Duke of Edinburgh on 6th May.
