Queen Elizabeth II

London falls silent as Queen Elizabeth II is transferred from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall

The streets of London were full of mourners on Wednesday as many tens of thousands of people lined up to say their final goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II.

Her late Majesty’s coffin was borne by the Gun Carriage of The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery with the Imperial State Crown resting on top.

Following the coffin on foot were Queen Elizabeth’s four children – King Charles, the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex.

Also walking to Westminster on foot was the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex alongside the Duke of Gloucester, Peter Phillips, Sir Tim Laurence and Earl Snowdon.

Walking behind members of The Royal Family in the procession were members of the Royal Household who serve under King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Walking directly in front of the coffin includes the Master of the Horse, Master of the Household, the Private Secretary, the Lord Steward and the Palace Steward.

The crowd in London was silent for the entire 40 minute procession, whilst Big Ben tolled in the background.

Elizabeth II arrived at Westminster Hall at around 3pm and was carefully placed on the catafalque to lie in state.

Her late Majesty is now Lying-in-State at the Palace of Westminster until 6:30am on the morning of her funeral.
