Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie to appear in September issue of British Vogue

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will appear in the prestigious September issue of British Vogue, though they won’t be the cover models.

The September issue will feature Rihanna on the cover – the first time a black cover model has ever been used in the magazine’s history.

New British Vogue editor Edward Enninful wrote about the upcoming issue and the York sisters in his editor’s letter, saying, “Essentially, we are taking you on a journey – from our offices in central London, where I invited Bajan superstar Rihanna earlier this summer to talk diva-dom and diversity, to Royal Lodge in Windsor, where Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie welcomed Vogue into the heart of the Royal Family.”

The York Princesses were photographed by Alex Bramall as part of the feature at the home of their father, The Duke of York. They will appear in the magazine a month before Princess Eugenie’s 12 October wedding to Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Speaking to Vogue, Princess Eugenie said: “We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there.”

“Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram – but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real.”

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie aren’t the first members of the Royal Family to featured in the coveted pages of Vogue. The Duchess of Cambridge made her first appearance on the cover of British Vogue for the magazine’s 100th-anniversary special issue in June 2016.

Princess Anne, Princess Royal, appeared on three Vogue covers in 1971 and 1973; and the late Diana, Princess of Wales, appeared on four Vogue covers: in August 1981, December 1991, July 1994, and posthumously in October 1997.

Crown Princess Mary appeared on the cover of Australian Vogue, while Princess Caroline and Charlotte Casiraghi have both appeared on the cover of French Vogue.

This isn’t the first time the York Princesses have appeared in fashion magazines. Both covered Tatler magazine in different months, and Princess Eugenie was featured in the September 2016 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, letting the magazine follow her around on a day in her life.
