The Prince of Wales spent a day training with the Welsh Guards on Salisbury Plain as their role shifts.
The Welsh Guards are now returning to life as a Field Army having spent the past two years on ceremonial duties. Until 2024, they were involved in major annual ceremonies including Trooping the Colour as well as historic events such as the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and the Coronation of King Charles III.
This change involves fresh training in different weapon systems, described as essential as they rebuild their specialist capabilities, and that’s what their colonel, the Prince of Wales, came along to see.
Prince William was with the 1st Battalion as they underwent refresher training involving live firing exercises.
He also saw some of the vehicles they use and was given a tour of the training ground.
The first in line to the throne wore combats and swapped his beret for a camouflaged helmet as he joined in the training exercises.
The Prince of Wales said he was ”proud to see their dedication and professionalism in action.”
