Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday that the Duke of Edinburgh would retire from royal duties in the Autumn at the age of 96.
The Prince, who is not believed to be retiring for health reasons, will not accept any new invitations for visits and engagements but will complete pre-scheduled visits that he has already committed to.
May
May 9 – The Duke of Edinburgh’s next scheduled public appearance is on Tuesday, May 9th when he will accompany Her Majesty The Queen to Pangbourne College in Berkshire. HM and HRH are visiting the college to celebrate the institution’s centenary.
May 14 – A week on Sunday, the 95-year-old Prince will attend the Windsor Horse Show on a solo engagement. While there, he will present trophies.
May 15 – In the capacity of Patron of the Chartered Management Institute, His Royal Highness will attend the President’s Dinner at Banqueting House in Whitehall.
May 16 – One of the busiest times of year for royals, Prince Philip will be joined by his family for a garden party held at Buckingham Palace.
May 17 – The Duke will attend the Cormorant Club’s 70th-anniversary Reception at the Royal United Services Institute in Whitehall.
May 18 – Prince Philip will attend another dinner at Mansion House, this time marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of Pakistan.
May 19 – The Duke of Edinburgh Award will be an important part of Prince Philip’s legacy. On Friday 19th May, the Prince will host a dinner at Frogmore House for the award.
May 21 – The Duke will attend the Regimental Remembrance Service for Grenadier Guards at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks.
May 22 – As he does every year, The Queen and other members of The Royal Family will join the 95-year-old Duke at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
In addition to this, he will hold a Regimental Council Meeting for Grenadier Guards at Buckingham Palace and attend the First Guards Club Dinner at the Cavalry and Guards Club.
May 24 – Prince Philip will hold some receptions at Buckingham Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Duke of Edinburgh’s.
May 30 – The Duke will hold a Reception at St. James’s Palace for the Air League.
May 31 – For his last engagement in the month of May, Prince Philip will host an afternoon reception at Buckingham Palace for London Youth charity.

June 1 – Prince Philip will attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace with The Queen and other members of The Royal Family.
June 7 – The Duke will hold a Reception at The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace for the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.
June 8 – The Prince will attend a dinner in London for Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers.
June 13 – For his first engagement as a 96-year-old, Prince Philip will attend Evensong at the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace to celebrate the Centenary of the Companions of Honour. The Queen will also be in attendance.
June 14 – Philip will hold a reception to mark its 80th anniversary of Plan International UK at Buckingham Palace.
June 16 – The 96-year-old will hold the Senior Colonel’s Conference for Grenadier Guards at Buckingham Palace.
June 17 – The annual Trooping the Colours parade for The Queen’s Official Birthday. This could be Prince Philip’s final Trooping of the Colour due to his retirement. However, Buckingham Palace stressed that he might still attend certain public events in the future which would be decided on an ad-hoc basis. This could be one example of such an occasions.
June 19 – The State Opening of Parliament, which is also likely to be the Duke’s last. He will accompany The Queen to the throne in the House of Lords. It will be a heavily dressed down affair this year. Next year, the Prince of Wales will likely take over his father’s responsibilities for the ceremony.
June 20 – June 24 – The Duke will likely attend Royal Ascot alongside Her Majesty The Queen. This engagement is not listed in the royal diary. However, it is usually only announced on the days which is attending.
June 27 – The Prince will present The Prince Philip Award for Contributions to Zoology at London ZooAttend a dinner at the Visitor Centre Restaurant at Sandringham House, for The Coaching Club.
June 30 – In his last engagement for June, the Prince will attend a dinner at the Visitor Centre Restaurant at Sandringham House for The Coaching Club.
July
July 3 – As of yet, the month of July looks quiet for Prince Philip. His first engagement of the month will be in Scotland where he will attend a reception to mark the 50th anniversary of the Prince Philip Prize in Glasgow.
July 4 – The Duke of Edinburgh will attend his final scheduled garden party with The Queen and other members of The Royal Family.
And that is it! There are no more scheduled engagements for The Duke of Edinburgh after the Spanish State Visit. Of course, more could be added to the diary in the coming weeks as his retirement isn’t due to begin until the Autumn.
It is possible we will still see the Duke in the Winter for President Trump’s State Visit to the UK and the Festival of Remembrance, although the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are in a likely position to take over some of these responsibilities in the future.
Good thing he’s on a light schedule. Well, for a 96 year old.
Look for her to thin out her schedule more. She has never liked doing things without him.
I suppose he still gets room and board and a wee bit of social security.
Maybe a gold watch and chain or some cuff links. Unlikely he has very many.
