Although the items in the Duchess of Sussex’s ‘Smart Set’ clothing collection were predicted to be a quick sellout during the collection’s two-week run to support charity Smart Works, the impact of this initiative will continue long past this month.
Sussex Royal shared on their official Instagram account that so many items were purchased in the collection’s first week that Smart Works will be stocked with enough pieces of clothing to support women for an entire year.
The initiative is using a 1:1 model, so with every purchase of a Smart Set piece, an identical item will be donated to Smart Works, which equips women with career clothing and interview coaching to get back into the job force.
“Just over one week ago, The Duchess of Sussex announced the launch of #TheSmartSet, an initiative to support the women of @SmartWorksCharity,” said the Instagram post. “In just eight days, your active support has helped equip the women of Smart Works with enough units from this capsule collection to help for a full year! Though many of the items sold out quickly, most are being restocked so you can continue to play your part.”

The collection, which will be sold for one more week, is sold in collaboration with Marks and Spencer, Jigsaw, John Lewis, and fashion designer Misha Nonoo. The Smart Set was designed to be a capsule collection so women at Smart Works have access to all the pieces they need to feel confident and build a basic career wardrobe.
The collection features a three-quarter-sleeve dress from Marks and Spencer available in blue or black, black trouser suit separates from Jigsaw, a leather tote from John Lewis offered in black or brown, and a button-front white shirt from Misha Nonoo.
