Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie’s engagement rings spark high sales of replica rings

If you’re interested in owning a replica engagement ring inspired by the royals, a recent study by Jewlr has found that Meghan Markle’s and Princess Eugenie’s are the most popular.

“It has been interesting to outline the top-selling celebrity replica rings and see the royals are having such a strong influence on UK sales,” said Tony Davis, the founder of Jewlr.

“With Kate and Wills’ arrival and the pending nuptials between Harry and Meghan, it’s clear to see that royal mania is hitting fever pitch amongst UK consumers at the moment.”

Meghan’s diamond engagement ring was designed by Prince Harry with a diamond sourced from Botswana flanked by two smaller diamonds from the personal collection of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales. The band is yellow gold.

Princess Eugenie’s ring was likewise designed by her fiancé Jack Brooksbank with collaboration from herself. Her engagement ring is an oval pradparadscha sapphire that is coral in colour surrounded by diamonds.

It evokes the design elements of her mother, Sarah, Duchess of York’s engagement ring, which was a Burmese ruby surrounded by diamonds, which was designed by her father, Prince Andrew.

Jewlr found that Meghan’s engagement ring was the most requested, beating out other styles by 20% in April sales.

“We knew prior to the engagement that Meghan is one of the most influential celebrities for driving our sales in the UK, but it’s interesting to see similar styles to those of Kate and Pippa Middleton’s rings picking up traction in the last few months.”

The company released the top five bestsellers – Meghan was top, and Princess Eugenie’s was second. Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s ring was third, followed by the Duchess of Cambridge’s in fourth and her sister Pippa Matthews’s in fifth.

“On the contrary, more outlandish Hollywood styles are declining in sales, with Hollywood stars’ over the top style influence waning in favour of understated classic styles.”

This meant that rapper Cardi B and pop singer Lady Gaga’s engagement rings were among the least popular. Surprisingly, The Queen’s diamond engagement ring was also among the least popular.

Both Meghan and Princess Eugenie will marry this year at St George’s Chapel.
