Meet the corgi about to take a starring role in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations

His name is PJ and he’s just a few hours old but he’s already set to be one of the big stars of the Platinum Jubilee. For this corgi is the emoji that will spring into life every time Twitter users use the special celebratory hashtags for the anniversary of The Queen’s reign.

Over the coming ten days, a string of hashtags will automatically include the corgi with his crown in purple and platinum, the colours of this Jubilee.

Among the phrases that will bring PJ to life are #PlatinumJubilee and #HM70. The full list is in our tweet from our special Platinum Jubilee news account, filled with the latest details of the celebrations.

The hashtag also celebrates some of the biggest Jubilee events including #PlatinumPartyatthePalace and #PlatinumJubileePageant. PJ will also join plenty of street parties with the hashtag #TheBigJubileeLunch.

The unveiling of the Platinum Jubilee emoji came exactly a week before the official celebratory weekend begins. Trooping the Colour takes place on June 2 2022, followed that evening by the lighting of the Jubilee beacons. The Service of Thanksgiving is on June 3 while the Epsom Derby follows on June 4. That same evening, the Party at the Palace takes over the stage outside Buckingham Palace. The Pageant is on June 5, the day highlighted as the main Jubilee lunch day.

The Queen reached the 70th anniversary of her reign on February 6th 2022.
