King Charles and Queen Camilla spend a quiet day of reflection at Highgrove

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are spending a quiet day in their country home to reflect on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Their Majesties have had an extremely busy schedule since the death of the Queen last week, with the couple undertaking dozens of engagements across the United Kingdom.

Ahead of a visit to Wales on Friday, September 16, The King and Queen Consort are spending a quiet day at Highgrove – their Gloucestershire retreat.

Operation London Bridge – the detailed plans for what should happen when The Queen dies – ensured that His Majesty would spend a day at Highgrove with no public engagements.

The King has received his governmental red boxes containing his daily cabinet documents, and is spending the remainder of the day preparing for his role as monarch.

Since the death of the Queen last week, people have been leaving floral tributes at the gates of Highgrove. However, it is not expected that Their Majesties are to publicly view the messages or meet well-wishers.

The King and Queen Consort will visit Wales on Friday – the final nation of the United Kingdom they have yet to visit in their new roles.

His Majesty will visit the Welsh Assembly and will hold meetings with senior political figures.
