Duchess of Cornwall pens article on loneliness at Christmas

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

The Duchess of Cornwall has authored an article for The Telegraph regarding loneliness at Christmas as part of her role as the Royal Patron of The Silver Line.

Her Royal Highness stressed that it is “more important than ever to remember those people who may be on their own, not just at Christmas, but every day of the year.”

She focused on the loneliness older people feel due to various reasons – illness, deaths, disabilities, etc. – and how they don’t want to bother loved ones.

“I hope the readers of The Daily Telegraph will learn more about the work of this very special charity. It offers a free, confidential, helpline that is open every single day of the year. What is more, if callers want to be put in touch with a Silver Line Friend, they can have a regular weekly chat on the phone, getting to know each other and sharing news,” she said, in part, about The Silver Line.

She concluded by saying, “Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish all the readers of The Telegraph and their families a very Happy Christmas.”

The full article can be seen on the Prince of Wales’ website, here.

The Duchess of Cornwall has been praised for her work on the article with many commenting on the Clarence House social media accounts thanking the Duchess for writing the article and bringing attention to The Silver Line’s work.

Her Royal Highness became the patron of the organisation in May of 2017.
