The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will spend the Christmas period at Highgrove House this year.
The couple will be at their Gloucestershire residence on Christmas Day, but are expected to see The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at some point over the holidays.
Camilla will also see members of her family during the five day period in the UK where coronavirus restrictions are eased.
From December 23rd to December 27th, up to three different households in Britain will be able to mix together, forming a Christmas bubble.
The confirmation of Charles & Camilla’s festive plans mean their bubble will consist of The Queen & Prince Philip, and a household containing members of the Duchess of Cornwall’s family.
The Queen will spend her Christmas break at Windsor this year. Her Majesty, along with the Duke of Edinburgh, will celebrate the festive season at the Castle which has been their main residence for much of 2020 owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Normally, the Queen is joined by the Royal Family at Sandringham for Christmas. This year, she and Prince Philip will pass the holiday quietly together at Windsor. It’s not known whether any of their children or grandchildren will join them as up to three households will be permitted to be together over the festive period under new government regulations designed to allow families to spend time together despite ongoing efforts to stem the spread of coronavirus.
There had been speculation about whether the Queen would leave Windsor for the break but on December 1st, it was confirmed that ”having considered all the appropriate advice”, she will remain at the Castle for the holiday period.
It’s not known yet whether Her Majesty will travel to Sandringham after Christmas. She likes to spend the first days of February in the Norfolk residence as it was the final home of her father, King George VI. He passed away at Sandringham on February 6th 1952 and the Queen always spends the anniversary of his death and of her own accession at the house.
