King Charles III and Queen Camilla will lead the Royal Family at the Christmas carol concert organised by the Princess of Wales.
The Princess is bringing together musicians and performers for Together at Christmas at Westminster Abbey to recognise the efforts of communities and individuals across the UK.
It follows the special concert that Kate organised in 2021 to pay tribute to those who had helped others during the coronavirus pandemic. Her performance of ‘For Those Who Can’t Be Here’ on the piano, along with songwriter Tom Walker, went viral following last year’s festive celebration.
This year’s concert, on December 15th 2022, is dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II. It will celebrate the values espoused by Her Late Majesty, including service, compassion and support for others.
The concert will include performances from Craig David, Alexis Ffrench and Samantha Barks. There will also be a duet by Alfie Boe and Melanie C. Readers at the ceremony, which will embrace celebrations for people of all faith and of none, will include the Prince of Wales.
The celebration will end with the congregation singing ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ after a poll, launched on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, saw thousands pick that as the finale.
For the first time, Together at Christmas carol services will also be held across the UK with celebrations in December in a string of locations including Belfast, Wolverhampton and Swansea. The local celebrations will be tailored to their own communities while including elements from the Westminster Abbey service.
Together at Christmas at the Abbey will be recorded and shown on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
