King Charles and Queen Camilla at Braemar Games on eve of accession anniversary

The King and Queen attended the Braemar Games ahead of a big anniversary.

With just hours to go until the second anniversary of Charles III’s accession, Their Majesties were at the annual Highland gathering near to Balmoral.

They enjoyed an afternoon of Games including the famous tug of war and toss the caber competitions. The Braemar gathering is the most famous of all the Highlands events and draws thousands of visitors every year. The Royal Family has been attending for over a century.

The Queen wore a blue print dress with a brown, feather trimmed beret. The King was in Balmoral tartan.

King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived at Balmoral last month for their annual stay. The Royal Family has long spent their summers at the Scottish estate but it is particularly important for them to be there now as it was at Balmoral that Queen Elizabeth II died.

Her Late Majesty passed away at 3.10pm on September 8th 2022 and was succeeded immediately by her eldest son as Charles III.

King Charles has been at Balmoral over the past few days although Queen Camilla has been carrying out engagements across the UK this week.
