It’s one of the most famous birthday greetings in the world and the royal celebration was given a special twist for one recipient by none other than The King himself.
As King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Middlesborough, they met Rona Graft who just happened to be turning 100 that very day.

His Majesty produced the customary royal birthday card, sent to all UK residents who reach 100, and presented it himself to the city’s newest centenarian.
Rona Graft was delighted with the work of her latest postman and told The King and Queen how thrilled she was to receive her special card in such an unusual way.
The birthday celebrations were part of a busy day in Middlesborough where the royal focus was on community initiatives.
King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the Junction Charity which helps young people across the area. They spoke to Katie Brooks, Young Carers Coordinator and Sara Mirsalehi, EWB & Mental Health Manager as well as chatting to several of the youngsters supported by the organisation.

The royal visit also took in the faith initiative, Together Middlesborough, which works to support people across the local community and a knife crime education workshop.
Another initiative seen by The King and Queen was REPOD Doctors which works with refugee medical practitioners as they train to begin work with the NHS.

Queen Camilla also put the spotlight on her love of literacy with a special engagement with the Literacy Trust. Five young people found themselves being presented with their Star Reader certificates in the presence of The Queen.
And while there was plenty of celebrating for Rona Graft as she turned 100, there was a card for Charles III as well from another wellwisher who declared him the ”best king ever”.
