George, Charlotte and Louis join Trooping the Colour carriage procession for first time

Members of the Royal Family have departed Buckingham Palace for Horse Guards in carriages, heading to the Major General’s Office to view Trooping the Colour, the first event of Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Earlier this morning Buckingham Palace confirmed which royals will attending the Trooping, with the working royals arriving by carriage, or riding in the procession, as the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Princess Royal are expected to do.

In the first carriage, were the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

In the second carriage came the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.

In the third carriage were the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

Other members of the Royal Family have arrived separately at the Major General’s Office to watch Trooping the Colour.

For the first time, the Prince of Wales is taking the salute and inspecting the troops on behalf of The Queen, who will receive the salute back at Buckingham Palace alongside the Duke of Kent.

Prince Charles is accompanied by the Duke of Cambridge and the Princess Royal. The three are Colonels of the Welsh Guards, the Irish Guards (who are trooping their Colour this year), and the Blues and Royals.

At Buckingham Palace following the end of the parade, The Queen will receive the salute from the balcony alongside the Duke of Kent, who himself is Colonel of the Scots Guard. In recent years he has accompanied The Queen to Trooping the Colour after Prince Philip retired from royal duties.

After the final salute, The Queen will be joined by the working members of the Royal Family for a six-minute flypast. This is expected to include Prince Charles and Camilla; William and Kate and their children; Edward and Sophie and their children; Anne and Tim; the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester; the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
