Fashion Focus: When Kate met Mary, two fashion favourites

Earlier this week the Duchess of Cambridge carried out her first overseas visit of the year with a working visit to Denmark on behalf of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. As she met up with Crown Princess Mary and the two are fashion plates in royal circles, let’s take a look at what each woman wore during this two-day visit.

Kate kicked off her visit with her traditional diplomatic dressing, arriving in Copenhagen dressed in the colours of the Danish flag. Kate paired a red blazer by Zara (specificially the Textured Double-Breasted Blazer) with a white shirt by ME + EM and black trousers. Her shoes were her Gianvito Rossi Piper 85 pumps, and she carried an Aspinal Midi Mayfair bag. Her earrings were by Danish jeweller Maria Black and her necklace was by Monica Vinader.

On the second day of her visit to Denmark, Kate visited the Stenurten Forest Kindergarten and once again paid sartorial tribute to her host country. Her jacket was by Seeland and she wore under it a cream sweater by Mark Kenly Domino Tan paired with a classic pair of jeans and her Blundstones—a possible tribute to Crown Princess Mary as the company is an Australian shoe brand—and her Bobble Hoop Earrings by Liv Thurwell.

For an official luncheon at the palace with Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary, Kate dressed up in a Catherine Walker coat dress—the Marine naval frock coat-inspired coat dress—with a Mulberry handbag and Gianvito Rossi high heels. Her jewellery consisted of Maria Black earrings and Monica Vinader pearl pendant necklace.

Crown Princess Mary was dressed in Chanel or a Chanel-inspired off-white boucle coat over a black dress for lunch and the subsequent joint visit to Danner Crisis Centre with Kate. She carried a handbag by Diane von Furstenberg, heels by Giovanni Rossi, and earrings by Dulong Fine Jewellery.
