Duchess of Cambridge joins The Queen for church

The Duchess of Cambridge was photographed attending church with the Queen yesterday as she and the Cambridge family spent the weekend at Balmoral Castle.

The Queen, who spends August through to October at her Scottish castle, was joined by Kate as they were driven to Crathe Kirk church. Prince William was sat in the front seat. While the Queen is in residence, members of the Royal Family travel up to spend the weekends with her.

Prince Charles, the Wessexes (without James), and Princess Anne and her family were all photographed arriving at the church in separate cars. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been rumoured to visit as well, though they weren’t photographed on Sunday.

Crathe Kirk has been a place of worship for the Royal Family since Queen Victoria’s time. She donated two stained-glass windows while her daughter, Princess Beatrice, donated four bells. King Edward VII donated two marble medallions, King George V donated a communion table and Queen Elizabeth donated a Bible decorated with the Royal Coat of Arms.

The Cambridge family traditionally spend time with the Queen at Balmoral toward the end of August and beginning of September.

Kate was also spotted driving Zara Tindall, Prince George and Savannah Phillips to a grouse shoot party at Loch Muick on Saturday afternoon. It was George’s first grouse hunt, and he would’ve been there to watch his father take part rather than participate himself.

Kate has been on maternity leave since the birth of Prince Louis in April, and has only appeared in public a handful of times since. She attended the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, Trooping the Colour, RAF 100 events and Prince Louis’s christening, but has largely remained out of the public eye.

She is anticipated to resume her royal work in the fall, though no new engagements have been announced.
