Duchess Down Under: Meghan pays tribute to her mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales

The Duchess of Sussex kicked off the first day of the Australian Royal Visit in a sleek ivory white midi dress by Australian designer Karen Gee and jewellery from the collection of her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales.

For the first day of engagements, beginning with an official welcome from the Governor General and his wife at Admiralty House and including events at the Taronga Zoo and Sydney Opera House, Meghan mixed Australian design with pieces from Diana’s collection.

As noted on Twitter by The Royal Watcher, Meghan wore Diana’s gold and diamond butterfly earrings.

Meghan’s Mirror, a popular account that tracks Meghan’s fashion, also noted that Meghan was wearing a gold bangle that once belonged to Diana.

It was reported earlier that Karen Gee’s website had crashed once Meghan was identified as wearing one of her dresses. The dress retails for $1,800 AUS and is available in ivory, black and ink navy.

Meghan wore her pair of Stuart Weitzman heels and a yet-to-be-identified trench coat for the engagements at the Taronga Zoo and Sydney Opera House.

The first day of the tour ended with an afternoon reception at Admirality House, where Meghan wore a green Brandon Maxwell dress by American designer Brandon Maxwell.
