
Since Diana, Princess of Wales has arrived on Netflix’s The Crown, we’re looking at some of her best style moments from 1980s, starting with her debut as a royal fiancée in February 1981.
On 17 January 1983, Diana wore this bold-patterned dress to the Royal Academy of Arts’ opening reception for the Britain Salutes New York Festival.

Diana was spotted chatting with Sarah Ferguson, future Duchess of York, at a polo match at the Guard’s Polo Club in Windsor in June 1983. The now-iconic black sheep sweater was originally purchased from the London shop Warm & Wonderful. In honour of The Crown’s fourth season, it is being reissued by Rowing Blazers.
