Diana’s best style moments from 1982

Since Diana, Princess of Wales has arrived on Netflix’s The Crown, we’re looking at some of her best style moments from 1980s. Today, let’s look at some of her best looks from 1982.

On 17 March 1982, Diana accompanied Prince Charles to the Grand National in a heavy red winter coat and matching hat.

Later that month, on 29 March, Diana visited Bristol in a stunning emerald green maternity coat and matching hat. The coat was designed by Bellville Sassoon.

Nine days before the birth of Prince William, Diana appeared in this emerald green maternity dress and matching hat on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Colour flypast.

Charles and Diana left St. Mary’s Hospital in London with their newborn son, Prince William, on 22 June. Diana wore a green polka dot dress, and her style was echoed 31 years later when her daughter-in-law Kate left the same hospital with Prince George sporting a blue polka dot dress.

For her son’s christening on 4 August—which also happened to be The Queen Mother’s 82nd birthday—Diana looked chic in all pink. Her floral printed dress was designed by Bellville Sassoon.

Several of these outfits will be recreated in Season Four of The Crown where Diana, Princess of Wales is played by Emma Corrin. It streams on Netflix on November 15th 2020.
