Since Diana, Princess of Wales has arrived on Netflix’s The Crown, we’re looking at some of her best style moments from the 1980s, starting with her debut as a royal fiancée in February 1981.

Wearing a strapless black evening dress designed by her eventual wedding dress designers David and Elizabeth Emmanuel, Diana unwittingly gave the press a show with her neckline and later commiserated with Princess Grace of Monaco in the bathroom about the scrutiny of press coverage that would now follow her for the rest of her life.
