Could a Jubilee legend be getting ready for a repeat?

It’s one of the most iconic moments of Jubilee celebrations and as the final countdown to the Platinum party gets under way, there’s a suggestion it might just happen again.

Music legend Brian May has hinted that he might be preparing for a repeat of his famous 2002 performance at the Golden Jubilee when he played ‘God Save the Queen’ from the top of Buckingham Palace.

The guitar rendition of the National Anthem became one of the images of that Jubilee and of the year itself.

Speaking to Gary Davies on Radio 2, Brian May said ”I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you this but I think something might happen.”

He added ”There is talk of something happening. What can I tell you? We may be there…of course, it’s hard to follow standing on the roof of Buckingham Palace but you never know it might be possible.”

Any repeat performance would most likely be part of the Platinum Party at the Palace which takes place on the evening of June 4th 2022, the third day of the long Jubilee weekend.

Organisers have promised a host of stars from music, TV and film although the only act so far announced is George Ezra.

Other events planned for the Jubilee weekend include a Platinum Pageant around Buckingham Palace as well as the traditional lighting of beacons.

The four day celebrations will start on June 2nd 2022 with Trooping the Colour with the Royal Family set to greet crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace immediately afterwards. On June 3rd 2022, a Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s reign will take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
