William, Kate & Harry to welcome President Obama and the First Lady to Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace have announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will host a dinner this Friday for the President of the United States, Barack Obama, and First Lady, Michelle Obama.

They will dine at Kensington Palace after having lunch with Her Majesty at Windsor Castle. The President and First Lady will wish the Queen a happy 90th birthday the day after the special celebrations, which millions have been looking forward to for months. The Queen however, will spend her special day working.

“Their Royal Highnesses are very much looking forward to welcoming President and Mrs Obama to Kensington Palace,” read a statement from the Palace.

During his stay in the UK, the President will participate in a press conference with David Cameron at 10 Downing Street. This is just one stop on a tour which also includes visits to Saudi Arabia and Germany.

The British Royals, American President and First Lady have met on several occasions since 2011 when the Obamas met the Queen, Prince Philip and the Cambridges on a State visit that year. Last year, Prince Harry traveled to the United States where he met the First Lady while promoting the Invictus Games which get underway in less than a month. The Prince and First Lady share a passion for bringing awareness to issues impacting members of the military and wounded veterans.

The President’s most recent trip to the UK was in the summer of 2014 for a NATO summit. The Duke of Cambridge also met with the President at the White House when he and the Duchess traveled to New York City later that year. The First Lady came to the UK last year where she again met Prince Harry while promoting her Let Girls Learn initiative. She also met Prince George and Princess Charlotte at a private reception at Kensington Palace where she brought gifts for the little royals.
