Sophie, Catherine and Beatrice attend fashion reception at Buckingham Palace

The Countess of Wessex and the Duchess of Cambridge united on Monday evening to host a fashion reception at Buckingham Palace in the lead up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Their Royal Highnesses hosted the reception on behalf of The Queen during London Fashion Week.

Among guests at the reception included Princess Beatrice, Dame Anna Wintour, Caroline Rush, Stella McCartney and Naomi Campbell.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a floral Erdem assemble for the event with Prada shoes. The Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Beatrice, also opted for Erdem.

The Countess of Wessex wore a black Burberry dress with red stripes along the waist.

The event celebrated and showcased a newly launched creative initiative – the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange.

Launched earlier this month, The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange’s mission is to create partnerships between established and emerging talent from across the 52 member countries.

The reception brought together influential people from across the global fashion industry.

According to Buckingham Palace: “The initiative uses fashion as a common language and platform to help people understand the modern Commonwealth in a different way.

“It celebrates a creativity, sustainable production and manufacturing, trade links and ethical supply chains across the fashion industry, from business and design to textile and fabric design and manufacturing, to craft and artisan skills.”

Over the last six months, major fashion designers including Stella McCartney, Karen Walker and Bibi Russell have gotten behind the project to help exchange ideas.
