On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Ahead of the visit, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Cambridge would be the new Patron of the hospital.
Kate has championed healthcare for children in the past, and through visits to hospitals and hospices, the Duchess has been able to learn better how comprehensive care can assist youth.
The visit also helped start the countdown to the 150th anniversary of the hospital next year.
Evelina London cares for children in south London and south-east England. The services they provide reach from before birth right up to adulthood.
Marian Ridley, Director of Evelina London, said: “We are absolutely delighted and deeply honoured The Duchess of Cambridge has chosen to become our Patron.
“The Duchess shares our passion for giving children and young people the very best start in life and Her Royal Highness’ support will help champion the life-saving care our staff are providing to our patients.
“It is a huge pleasure to welcome Their Royal Highnesses back to our hospital and we are absolutely delighted that they are able to join us as we begin to celebrate our milestone 150th anniversary.
“We are immensely grateful for Their Royal Highnesses’ support and we look forward to working closely with The Duchess as our Patron.”
Speaking of her new role, the Duchess of Cambridge said: “It’s a real privilege to be part of this organisation, and I look forward to many happy years ahead.”
Later in the day, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Passage, an organisation for the homeless in Central London.

While there, the royal couple met with staff and joined in making crafts while discussing mental health issues homeless people face.
The Duke was asked to make the letter ‘E’ for the ‘Welcome to the Xmas Dinner’ sign. He joked about his craft abilities, saying: “My son knows how useless I am at this- Catherine is much better.”
