83-year-old woman seriously ill after incident involving Prince William’s convoy

An 83-year-old woman is seriously ill after being involved in an incident with a motorcycle which formed part of the Duke of Cambridge’s convoy.

According to The Sun, the grandmother came to be injured after colliding with a police motorcycle which was escorting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Witnesses say the bike was on the wrong side of the road directing traffic when the incident occurred on Monday in West London.

It is understood the couple were on their way to Windsor for the Order of the Garter service.

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge have sent flowers to the lady, and according to The Sun, hope to visit her in hospital.

Her condition is critical but stable. She is believed to have suffered numerous injuries, including a broken pelvis.

The incident is to be investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct. A member of Kensington Palace staff has visited the woman’s family.
