Buckingham Palace is hiring more house keepers

Have you ever wanted to work for the Queen at Buckingham Palace? Well, now might be your chance. The Queen is hiring maids to join her existing team of housekeeping assistants at the Palace in London.

Those hired will be responsible for cleaning the Palace, chauffeuring the royals around, doing their laundry and groceries, and caring for the household pets. A salary has not been published, but a similar advert offered £16,955 a year.

The job advert was published on The Royal Household website and reads: “Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.

“Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards.

“And you’ll take care of guests and work front-of-house to support special events too.”

Previous experience is not essential, but it would be an advantage. Despite the low salary, the job is an opportunity to develop skills and experience. The job advert says: “In an environment where development and training is commonplace, you’ll be able to grow your skills.”

The role comes with a comprehensive benefits package which includes “33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15 percent employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility – to increase contributions or draw down as salary) and meals on duty”.

For applicants who do not live in or around London, there is also an option to live-in at Buckingham Palace with all meals provided. If this offer is taken up, there will be salary adjustments. There are also some vacancies at Windsor Castle, one of the Queen’s favourite residence, based in the county of Berkshire.

If you fancy working for the Queen at Buckingham Palace and possibly living in one of the most famous buildings in Britain, you can apply for the job now on The Royal Household’s website. The closing date for applicants is 13th June.
