Buckingham Palace alters website to show Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet

Buckingham Palace has changed its website to show the titles that the children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will now use.

The site now shows them as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

The alteration came after the Duke and Duchess decided they wanted their children to use their royal titles. Archie and Lilibet had the right to be known as Prince and Princess following the accession of King Charles III. Under Letters Patent issued in 1917, all children of a Monarch in the male line may be known as Prince or Princess.

The first indication that Harry and Meghan wanted their children to take the titles came in a brief statement issued after the christening of their daughter which called her Princess Lilibet Diana.
